Metamask is not safe. Be prepared for breach. You have been warned.

why

because coders always leave holes.

>> No.12480353

these posts are so fucking stupid. mm is just an interface to your wallet. I have mine set up on a browser that I only ever use for trading on exchanges. it's as safe as anything out there when you use it safely.

theoretically there could be a hole that steals eth if you go to a hostile site.
Impossible if you use a metamask as an interface to nano s/trezor though

>> No.12480415

>>12480353
well your private key is stored inside, if someone puts a backdoor in metamask, they have your private key

>> No.12480459

>>12480389
do you browse to sites and just randomly accept notifications from metamask when it prompts them?
>>12480415
your keys are salted by your own password you idiot

>> No.12480719

>>12480415
My private key is in my ledger, which metamask actually can't see.

>> No.12481188

>>12480389
Except you need three holes:

1) a hole that allows a site to connect to MetaMask without the user accepting the request

2) a hole that allows the site to read out the keystore of MM

3) a hole that allows them to somehow decrypt the key from MM storage without the user entering the password

Wake me if there's a proof of concept.

like I said, I've set up MM on a browser that I only ever use for trading. I don't use it for my general internet browsing.

No anon, do not compare this to a hardware wallet. if you think using a software interface without a hardware wallet is safe you are an absolute bottom feeding dumbfuck

>> No.12481224

Heh, my eth aint worth shit anymore anyway

>> No.12481246

this is probably the dumbest post of the day.
you're right...having a hardware wallet is the only 100% guaranteed safe option. you won't be able to buy or sell BTC though with just a hardware wallet....it's just hardware.
