Libertarians and conservatives in my country are campaigning for removing all taxes on inheritance since it's "already been taxed once".

But why would libertarians advocate for the removal of inheritance taxation?

I thought libertarians believed in "the self made man". What's self made about inheriting?

Meaning if you family own a farm worth 5 million $, and you inherit it, then you are gonna owe the government around 500K$.. Which you probably don't have, so you are gonna sell your families farm to pay for the tax, or you sell part of the farm.

The children still gets the lion-share of the inheritance, but it is the idea that you have to sell your families business, which your family may have been running for generations. Not only should inheritance not be taxed, but parents should be required by law to set up a trust fund for each child so that they never become a burden to the state. If they can't afford it the kids go straight to government-run foster care and the parents get hit with the bill, no welfare for you.

I've seen variations on this thread about a dozen times on here. Its either one guy who switches between three or four IPs in the thread or a few people working together.

It always boils down to them just calling everyone inheritcucks and shouting about meritocracy and socialism but the fervor with which it is shouted makes it clear the motive is just jealousy and greed rather than an actual devotion to an ideology. I remember in one of the threads he went on a rant about how they aren't better than he is and they don't' deserve to be richer than he is just because of their parents.

The tax does not work anyway. The rich will just invoice themselves from overseas tax haven shell companies that their children own. Good luck trying to stop the regular Joe from buying crypto and giving the private keys to their children.
