Gold is not money, its pure power. Gold has the power to control humanity and even Gods

Gold is shiny and easy to work with. So easy you can shape it with sticks and stones and it does not corrode. Also it is not fond in the upper crust of earth in big quantities.
That is all.

Gold ain't money.

Real gold (not the pathetic "certificates" you get when you "buy gold") is no more than store of value. To convert gold back to real money you have to preserve it until the society is stable again. You don't want to convert a pound of gold to a pound of bread, even if you're in the middle of WW2 and starving. And the bread owner doesn't want to acquire a pount of brass with "24k" stamped on it. An asset can only be traded when both buyer and seller think they're somewhat able to verify its real value. Most people can't discern between gold and yellowish metal scrap. The physical gold owner may be one of them as well.
During the 1980's Argentina crisis, people literally bartered a house for an old car with a tank full of gas. With a proper attorney, once the crisis was over, the former house owner will be barred to claim property again. He wasted a $350k asset for a $1k car because he decided he needed to move away. We're in 2019 and he's still regretting.

There's a very good reason why schools and colleges manage to not to teach well the subtle differences between wealth and store of value, volatility and stability, personal property and state interference, getting rich and getting money...

If all the gold in the world disappeared overnight, a few people would lose their money but nothing would change.

Civilization is held together by property rights. Physical control of property(gold) is just a small part of that.
