I remember hearing about it all over the news, etc. and I kept refusing to look into it. I had a vague idea of what crypto was and didn't want any part of it, because the feeling is ALWAYS "It's too late." I'm a skeptic at heart. PROFITS from short term capital gains are taxed at your regular earnings bracket rate, which is far from 40% unless you're earning an incredible amount of money. You can deduct losses from your profits so it's a reasonably fair system if played right.
