Do keep in mind that Ethereum's goal is to be the world computer. The computing part does scale, but the current method of bookkeeping (blockchain) does not. Suppose something better comes along, I think the foundation will stand true to its goal. I think it is amazing how the hype has been able to fund researchers to work on Ethereum in an open way.

The point is, I think Ethereum as a research foundation is willing to centralize the bookkeeping in favor of more generic computing platform. Should it be solved, you hope that it can be incorporated into blockchains, but many research areas of theirs do not consider how the bookkeeping is done.

EOS scales right now. But that does not mean ETH is not useful right now. ETH is under valued regardless. So is EOS.
