>I'm new to the stock market, what stocks should I buy?
Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks, Pendulum is the king of cope, and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.

There are some circumstances involving options which introduce "infinite risk".

Writing an uncovered call is one. Theoretically, a stock's price can rise infinitely. If the holder of the option decides to exercise the option, you are obligated, at whatever price, to buy 100 shares of a stock, and then sell it back to the person at the price of the option.

Writing a put introduces similar risk too, however the lowest price a stock can drop to is 0, so in the worst case you just lose everything, rather than having to somehow come up with an abritrary sum of money like with naked calls.

Ordinarily on that kind of gain I would say yes, take profit asap. However, something happened today on the Nasdaq and S&P. Both completed a bullish MACD cross on their daily charts as well as broke above short term resistance levels.

This is the kind of stuff that signals cautious bulls that a reversal has formed and it's time to start buying in. Monday could potentially get pretty crazy. This pump isn't done.

They implemented a millionaire tax in france, that has resulted a run to london and israel ( :) ) as paris etc. are losing record numbers on millionaires in exodus. Generational old Paris very wealthy Jewish families are both escaping muslims and taxes i guess. Wealth tax was implemented by very socialist Holland, and Macron has switched tax to only apply real estate, this has resulted some people returning to France. But is is very tough if each minister changes the wealth tax they might have move again.

Coertez 80% tax will have ofcourse big grace in democrat side, and race will be tough socialist vs. trump i think. If socialist will win then many americans need to move close tax paradises including islands etc. 70-80% is untenable it always results a bank run but people dont really vote on these things they prefer see collapse and run

Even if you're genius trader and you increase your investment by 10% every single month it'll take you 5 years to reach $100k if you only start with $500.
However if you add just $400 every month you would make a million dollars in the same time.

when you sell, you have to time the market properly twice for it to be beneficial. getting out, and then getting back in. i'd rather not stress over that and just rebalance on my predetermined schedule with planned % allocations.

I think wealth tax would be even more destructive than simply income tax. Also depends on tax brackets. Income tax is wayyyy easier to avoid. Also nowadays more international people can quickly move or buy other countries citizenships etc.

That being said, this kind of taxes will get people to vote. It is human bias unless you are in the top bracket the people will like to see the richest taxes 80% or similar, despite any longer terms effects on econonmy on such policy. And yes, these kind of taxes always very troublesome as people will simply dodge them usually it is the working class paying the higher taxes

Yes, +10% on your total investment every month + additional $400 from wagecucking makes one million in 5 years.
You'd have to be a genius, though, to consistently make 10% every month. I was just trying to emphasize how important monthly deposits are if you have little money to begin with.
Let's take a more realistic example. Let's say you're a good trader and make 10% every year (+0.8% per month) and additionally add $500 a month. In this scenario you'd make $100k in 10 years.

Anon. Earnings reports start on the 14th and with Apple's guidance "surprise" everything is up in the air and hinging on the trade deal with China. Jobs report was amazing, fed rate announcement was promising, only unknowns left are China deal and earnings reports. The China deal will ignite a bull regardless of earnings. A stall on China with good earnings, still 5-10%. A stall on China with bad earnings down another 3-5%. A fail on China? Hope you bought metal.

no, they made meaningful cuts, after realizing that shale is able to survive low prices, not go out of business

and they only had so much surplus funds to burn in their price war, so their supply flooding has done the opposite of what they want (shale not only survived, it became even more efficient because capitalism, and while OPEC countries hemoraged money, their populations are starting to experience unrest, because social services have lost funding)

many OPEC governments cannot survive flooding the market with money anymore, the point that would give them their desired market share would also cause civil revolts, making market share a moot point

also Saudi-Iran cold war is breaking OPEC apart from the inside

a new Saudi-Russian axis is forming (although Russia is trying to be friendly with both Saudis and IRAN, but Saudi friendship is much more profitable, so we will see how it goes...)

also Libya might be losing oil production? or are they recovering from their unexpected dip from the past year or two?

The usual. Fact of the matter is both Nasdaq and S&P confirmed bull flags, broke short term resistance, and are likely to continue trending up for a while here until bad news, rebuff at key resistance, or overbought on daily RSI, whichever comes first. I slammed in an extra chunk of cash when I saw Nasdaq fail to set a meaningful low around close yesterday. You're trading contrarian against a macro bearish trend but it's not imminently in danger of turning around and going significantly down again for a while. Pic related is the weekly chart. for now, until next OPEC meeting at least

commodities in general move based on outside factors (weather, politics, producer shenanigans)
and oil is the most heavily manipulated commodity in the world

price forecasts are only good for a week or two at most with oil, and prices can change on a dime

if you do, youll have to do more DD than with any regular stock

profit potentials can be huge, thanks to the unpredictability of commodities (but risk is high too though)
