>I'm new to the stock market, what stocks should I buy?
Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks, Ratsu is stupid, and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.

why do you expect such a massive dump? why does anyone expect this? We see the PPT is doing its job at curbing panic selling and US economic factors are looking good for 2018. The only reason it seems people would continue selling is if they think the market is still overpriced and/or if the mild political turmoil keeps freaking them out. Neither of which would result in an avalanche tho.

Interested to hear what other anons think regarding this though

LCI has already dropped 60% since his initial recommendation.

He was pumping it way back, before they announced ending their partnership with some distributor and wrote off like 200mil in goodwill. The stock crashed like 50% in one day or some shit. I felt kind of bad, but at this point it's possible he averaged in enough during that 3-4$ bottom to reach nearly breakeven with the current price.

LCI is probably at a real bottom now though, unless the overall market continues plunging. Their massive leverage multiplies the losses, but it can regain just as quickly by simply reporting steady profit.

12292099

Tomorrow I have a stop-buy order active for a stock and I figured since I rarely use this type of order I would explain the scenario and strategy for it.

I previously bought TBP (pic related) at 0.69 and 0.72. When it rejected at first resistance of 0.87 I sold, I had a limit order to sell half at 0.87 in case that happened, and decided to sell the remainder of my position before close on Friday. Betting the price would retrace some after three consecutive days of decent gain. It's possible this was just an oversold bounce and I tend to lean towards that interpretation for now. However, I don't know what it was or whether this stock will remain bullish so: enter the stop-buy order.

I don't want to buy at current range as there is no confirmation of bullish sentiment shift. My stop-buy is set at 0.88, meaning I want to buy back in to this stock if and only if it breaks 0.87 resistance. A limit order in this situation would fill at 0.88 and any price below that because that's how limit orders work. Stop order buy, on the other hand, does not go live unless the price hits 0.88.

Every investor regrets not starting earlier, so you are not alone with that.

Patience, high savings rate and regular diversified (domestic & international) stock investments do 80% of the wealth accumulation job. At some point if you have courage and don't care about volatility you could try using leverage to boost your returns. At maximum only use 10% or 20% leverage, no more. how do you do the math on what makes sense long term for someone between renting and buying a house?

I have no problems affording mortgage+maintenace, but I'll have to save up $10-15k just sitting in cash to use for a down payment and closing costs instead of dumping it into a currently down market with some cheapies....how do I do the math on what makes sense 20 years from now? Is it worth having 5 figures sit in cash so I can use it for a down payment, will the home equity + personal equity of ownign my own building be worth it vs renting to some giant corporation where I get nothing back every month?

I can afford $30k down it would just take like 2 years, and the entire time I wouldnt be able to have that money int he markets.....that is how banks usually want your down payment to be done right? You need to have it in cash for months/years at a time so they know its really your money, not that your getting a loan to pay for their own loan of yours?

Biopharma is largely speculation. Most startups are horribly run from the business end and most investors arent truly familiar with the underlying science. Most people are investing based on a hope that a drug pans out and as far as the business fundamentals are concerned, most of those stocks are horribly overvalued even in the $2-$3 range. We're in a bear market at the moment so you'd have to be off your rocker to be shilling biopharma at large and expecting people to take you seriously, considering the prices can (and probably will) drop like a rock at a moment's notice. Like much harder than other sectors in the market are going to drop, with maybe the exception of tech.
That said, this is also the perfect time to have some limit orders on hand for certain companies that will drop harder than they really should due to general fear in the market and a tendency for investors to be ignorant of clinical trials jargon.

why is volatility going higher again? oh yeah because capitalism lost, and what wins, well knowing when to cut loses and pack it up boys. Too many people in this country make me sick. We need a recession for the evolution of business to actually work naturally. The bad ones have to go bankupt and the stronger ones get stronger. The fact that head nigger threw good money at bad leadership and inflated the markets shows exactly the entitlement mentality of niggers. I mean, i hope you're all happy, this market isn't going to recover next year, we're going too see new lower lows by july. Commodities will be stable too since inflation is in check, but you can't get more growth because the unemployment is so low, there's only so much growth you can see, and honestly I hope im wrong, for the sake of the country I care for so deeply.

do you mean total investment or simply using to trade? because if its your total investment, you can't have too much. if its for trading, well that depends on how much more you have invested.

i am extremely risk adverse so I wouldn't trade with more than 3-5% of my investments (i don't "trade" any because I actually don't know shit about trading, just investing). Looking to learn to sell calls down the line, but unless your net worth is significantly more, you're trading with quite a bit of money which can be either good or bad, depending on how good you are at it

When we look at the Cash S&P 500, we see that the 2017 high was 2694.97 with the closing at 2673.61. The 2245.13 was the 2017 low. So far, this index reach 2346.58 intraday on the 26th. The Daily Bullish Reversal stands at 2574.00 and technical resistance stands at 2573.75.

The Monthly Bearish Reversals lie at 2682.30 and 2594.60. Electing the first will imply a further marginal decline into early 2019 whereas which need a closing below both to imply a test of the 2404.00-2452.50 level.

The Quarterly Bearish Reversal on the cash remains at 240760. We need a closing below that at year-end to signal a sharp correction is possible.

We would at the least least need a closing above the Daily Bullish Reversals to raise any hope of a further rally into mid January. Failing to accomplish that by Monday, warns of a retest of the lows.

Remember, the technical resistance stands at 2573.75 in the Cash S&P 500 and 23768.97 in the Dow. The Daily Bullish Reversals are 2574.00 in the Cash S&P 500 and 24058 in the Dow.

Be careful for this may prove to be just a 3-day reaction if we do not close above the technical areas and Reversals by Monday.
