No they are separate chains. Grin is the OG with zero premine or tax and 100% community driven. Beam is a newer implementation out of Israel, backed by VC and a 20% block reward tax, they are moving much faster than Grin which is only donation driven. Basically XMR vs Zcash, and I prefer XMR/Grin
