What is the solution here? Small company so there's no HR department. Tried of the bullying but it's hard to think of good responses back to their crap.

It was just a few examples. Basically every interaction with them is passive aggressive or they throw light insults at me. Maybe I'm being too nice but I don't know if I should just insult them back, like make fun of their actual life problems they mention occasionally.

ALL OF YOU. Stop looking at HR like they're on your side. HR IS NOT ON YOUR SIDE. The only why HR exists is so that the company has a way to cover for itself due to personnel issues. NEVER EVER entrust the HR department with anything. Only use them for answering questions about benefits and W2 paperwork, that's it.
