All of modern society is a huge bubble right now. Everything is comfy, people buy into this safety and comfyness more and more (buying luxury goods, ordering food, depending more and more on modern infrastructure and supply). People think they're safe and nothing can go wrong, no domestic wars, no food shortages, no global catastrophes like solar flares or major volcanic eruptions, etc...

"That's all bs, this time it's different right? All those other civilisations that were wiped off the earth at the peak of their culture and wealth, those bubbles popped but this one's different, right? We don't have to worry about overexposing ourselves in comfort and dependency. Why should I learn how to fix stuff or basic carpenter skills when I can buy everything and pay others to fix my shit? Why should I care how food is made, hunted or gathered when McDonald's ships its food out now? Why should I care on how to protect myself? The government makes sure I'm safe."


It's basic bubble psychology and it could pop in 1 year, in 5, in 10 or in 25 but we're close to the top in a grand scheme of things. Prepare for it by learning basic shit on how to survive on your own, build your own stuff and grow your own food. Start with building a nightstand or something, learn the basics on fixing a car, get a tomato plant as a first try at growing your own food, join an MMA gym and go to the gun range.

By doing this you're selling a little of your comfort and time at the top of the bubble and short western society. You will make the profit when every girl in a 100km radius knocks on your door and offers you her virginity for shelter, protection and food.

The bubble was poised to pop 100 years ago. The world wars were putting a check on human development, but then the USA stepped in and altered the course by keeping us afloat.
We are only kept afloat due to the United States military, and the United States military is kept afloat due to the incredibly large amounts of fertile farmland in the US.
But this farmland is dwindling and becoming used up. Soil loss is at incredible all time highs. Aquifers are being depleted at rapid pace. The plants we are growing are being wasted on shit like ethanol. We are literally turning farmland into desert in order to make gas that we don't even need.
If we don't solve these problems, I'd give it 100 years and the USA will be a shell of it's former self, and who the fuck knows what will happen.

I worked with someone once who was a total weird creepy autist. He did strange things like formed a huge crush on his female boss and then defended and agreed with her at every turn like he was his knight in shining armor.. like a lost puppy because she was fucking someone from another company down the hall. He was very introverted but when he drank he got loud and angry and mean. He always worked late nights and if you worked late nights he would creepily stand behind you until you noticed him and then start a long conversation with you, not realizing you’re trying to finish work so you could get the fuck out and go home.

He was fine at his job but obviously he needed to go, so he got fired. Nobody cares about your skills when you can’t socialize properly and need to be able to. The ability to socialize is a far more useful skill than anything else you’re going to offer. Companionship is key.
