I have a master's degree in intera tion design. However, an education isn't a requirement, although it will probably help you a lot. I know lots of graphic designers are moving into UX/UI design, as there is a good job market for them and they make way more. Compsci is helpful as well. I kinda look at UX design as a mix of IT, psychology and design.

I think finance is a great start! I currently work inhouse in a big finance company. Finance is one if the fields that are moving forward the fastest within tech. Just look at fintech. They need people that can help them use the technology in the right way.

You don't need programming experience, although it is useful. Some UX designers are stronger on the development side, some are stronger the visual design part, some on the user research and concept development side. You will start with the last. You already have experience within finance, you know how it works and you know your customers. That's your selling point.

Start looking up ux design resources online, there is a lot. Start sketching down ideas. It doesn't have to be amazing visual design, just wireframes.
