Tie Bitcoin to national currencies

Would it be viable to tie the currency of a country like Venezuela to BTC? Think about this, Venezuela would finally have a stable currency and would also be the first country in the world to use BTC in day to day transactions.
BTC's value would skyrocket if it was tied to any legitimate nation's currency, especially one like Venezuela's where there's a lot of potential for growth.

It seems like a great idea to me, but I feel like there are some major risks involved with the whole undertaking. Would this work?
