I'm all in LINK but I'm nervous. The team can't fucking spell. That's like the most basic thing. Imagine you're meeting a lawyer to go over an important business deal, and he shows up in a perfectly tailored suit but he has white gym socks and beat up, old shoes on. Would you trust that guy with a huge deal? I wouldn't. I'm getting $5k soon and might put more into link but this fud unironically gets to me. Help.

There's no excuse. The website release was super shabby. Even if your copy writer has dyslexia just get one other person to read over it. Or hell, preview it on /biz/, we'll go over it with a fine toothed comb for free.

What do you think they did? They know they have a team of fucking retards on biz who will dissect everything they do, instantly. You are the copy writer, and you did it free.

I'm sure they just collected and aggregated our revisions

Agreed. There's a free tool called fucking spell check too. Maybe use it before printing or publishing something. How the fuck can we trust this team to actually produce a working main net when they literally (LITERALLY) can't spell fucking decentralization. What the fuck

Don't fall for the 'boomer aesthetic as direct representation of competence' meme. It's something to note, but it's not predictive. There are 'professionals' in every line of work who take great care to present themselves well specifically because that's the only skill they have.

Attention to detail is important if I'm investing money though. I wouldn't expect Warren Buffet to send a yearly letter to shareholders with spelling errors. And this is worse because it's basic, promotional stuff. They can't even get a 50 word poster out without a fucking gaffe

They weren’t incorrect spellings though: contact instead of contract and decentralize instead of decentralized. No spell-check would have picked up those up as all were spelt correctly. Blame the designer and proof-reader.

Who cared about marketing anyway it's not the team's strong suit because they literally never do it. Solving the Oracle problem makes up for being incompetent in other areas. More concerning is the service agreement. Once that's completed I will be bullish

Sure it's understandable but you have to see how it fits with the whole picture. If you're sincerely worried, learn Go and review Steves/Alex's/Thomas'/whoever else's commits, read Mark's medium posts, watch the talks and see if the attention to detail falls short there too. Right now you're like a boomer at costco trying to get a discount over damaged packaging.

I've been a professional proofreader and copy editor for five years (though I've kind of moved on in the past couple of months). I've got a pretty impressive resume in terms of editing and proofing clients I've worked for (one of the biggest academic publishers in the world) and understand link well enough to talk about it intelligently.

Do you all think there's any chance they'd get back to me? Honestly if you're publishing anything professionally it should be a lot better than what they're doing, and it's so easy and affordable to prevent all the mistakes they make.

because it's not that easy. Proofing isn't rocket science by any means, but it is a skill that has to be developed to publish things on a professional level with a guarantee of no errors, and there is a level of consistency and error-proofness that a professional can get to that someone who just thinks they're intelligent and a good writer cannot. Most people think they can do it, but the results are usually very lackluster unless they're experienced. Every major publisher has proofreaders on staff, and if chainlink thinks they can publish stuff professionally without having one looking at their stuff (certainly on a contract basis), they're wrong.

Why could not Chainlink team check out their latest partnership announcement of ETHA Group. These are clearly fake profiles, stock photos of random black people and made up names.

Why does not Chainlink have even time to check this kind of shit out? These people do not even exist and Chainlink gladly endorses their "company" on their twitter

Adelyn & I are corresponding via email, so I sent her that photograph along with the following message
>inb4 he didn't
You're welcome, Adelyn; thanks again right back atcha!

Before rambling on, I quickly want to point out one (technically two) particular issue(s): spelling & grammar; you'll notice two glaring errors underlined in the attached slide from the last presentation in New York.

Unfortunately but understandably, such imperfections cannot be tolerated. As another anonymous poster put it, this is like showing up to a high-pressure sales meeting wearing an expensive business suit... and white gym socks. They are minor errors, but they are errors which imply other errors.

"If this team makes spelling mistakes and uses bad grammar in their presentation slides, then I must assume that their code is also rife with errors & bugs," is what anyone noticing these (somewhat glaring) problems thinks (even though the actual programming is being done by someone else entirely). It looks bad and shakes out a significant number of otherwise potential partners & investors.

To tie this in with my current work, it's all about *presentation* -- if *every* cube of Ahi Tuna on a sixty-dollar plate is not perfectly cut, if the glaze is not drizzled properly, if the garnish flower is wilted, if the side is not properly portioned, if anything is less than *perfect*... then it is not a sixty-dollar plate; it is garbage. That shit might fly at McDonald's, but it certainly won't when there's real money on the table.

So, this is an issue which is undoubtedly hurting the project (arguably more than association with an anonymous internet forum inhabited by high-IQ INTP/INTJ/etcs who have "figured it out" and sperg to $1k eoy memes).

You're still doing an amazing job, and your team management is on-point, and we adore you, Sergey and your entire team... but you have got to get *everything* written about ChainLink *perfect* (or it just won't fly).
