its powered by the energy it takes to mine and the energy of retards constantly shitposting about its price on various forums and social media sites. also, you can buy gold using btc. when you can buy something with an asset it does have value and is backed by the thing you can buy. btc is indirectly backed by gold because there are gold vendors who accept btc as payment. if i had realized this at the start of 2017 i would've bought btc but sadly i'm a low IQ retard who didn't buy until summer 2017.
