>I'm new to the stock market, what stocks should I buy?
Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks, and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.

my father is only saving his money and not investing in anything except some real estate. he asked me what to buy for a fairly short investment horizon (1-3 years). no leverage but I can adjust the position size of course. target volatility of maybe 3% p.a. or less would be ideal. what do I tell him? I only know how to trade btc and I'm not going to use his money for that.
bonds? but how do you invest in them best? buying some etf or literally bonds? fixed rate, floating rate, corporate, government, ...?

It's not a head and shoulders. The shoulders aren't supposed to be roughly level with the top of the head. There was a double top, dump, nominally lower high, dump, and now today's green dildo on a rope. The lower trend line held, which is why there was good buy volume towards end of day.

Calling pivot point for the dude weed sector. Aphria's run in with yellow biz short slime accelerated the pattern. I was thinking the bear market on large Canadian dude weed would continue in to early 2019 on a gentle downward slope, more or less. But now thanks to the madness, the trend support was hit and held with prejudice. Now, the bearish trend could continue but I think the coming days should see a lot of buy volume because of this to give a reversal a solid try.

Also not a cup and handle. The peaks are supposed to be roughly level, not askew like this. Cup n' handle can be a scary pattern to trade as it looks just like, and technically is, a double top with a drop off. You don't get confirmation until the big green or red break off it.

I tried this earlier, and got a few ideas. What should I stuff my retirement portfolio (IRA and then more on the side) with? Considering pic related and narrowed it down to O, KO, MSFT, MDLZ, LMT, JNJ, MMM, HON, WM, MCD and the rest in VT. Thinking 50% VT and the rest 5% each.

I did the math and it comes out to 63% 5 year growth with a 2.5% dividend on average with a low af beta. Beats the S&P 500 in all 3 metrics. Am I on to something or am I missing something?

I also want to dump in dude weed MJ and NRZ for shiggles maybe.

nice work. as someone who's on their way to making it, a few points of advice:

1. Don't let lifestyle inflation/creep get in the way of scheduled payments. spend on yourself but understand the main goal.
2. http://www.moneychimp.com/calculator/compound_interest_calculator.htm Compounding interest calculators are a good way to see where you want to go and how to get there. also a good way to keep you interested in saving for retirement and possibly retire early
3. don't buy anything recommended by /smg/ that doesn't have a market cap of at least $1B.
4. Don't let bitches know how much money you saved.

Should have I had sex with her and lost my virginity? Yes. But the lashing marks from the stick were so satisfying.
She agreed to 20, right across the ass. I had her count them out loud
>1 sir, 2 sir, 3 sir
By 20 she was trembling
I cupped her face in my hands and kissed her nose, and told the cum dumpster of a whore I'd give her 50 cents for each lashing after.
We got to 50 lashings before she finally gave up.
Then we got in my car and drove out to an abandoned house, she rubbed my crotch on the way there, dancing little loops across the head of my penis with her soft hands.
We got out of the car and I facefucked her until no tomorrow, smacking my cock across her pale white face. I eventually came on her chest and demanded she eat it, which she did.

That was a good night, it's a shame she's in prison now lmao

The only down side is they only have nip servers so you have to deal with all the japanese shit you can't read even if you get a language patch. Its f2p though which is always a plus.

Canopy Growth put out a news release this morning that I think got overlooked a bit during all the mania today. They're buying out Storz & Bickel for $220m.

Storz & Bickel is a German company, best known for manufacturing dry media vaporizers like the Volcano and handheld Mighty. They were the go-to vaporizer brand before Arizer hit the scene with versions that (arguably) worked just as well for around 40% cheaper retail price. If Canopy had bought out Arizer instead, I think that would have been much bigger news. Nevertheless, S&B is a quality dry vape manufacturer with a good international reputation and a solid get for Canopy.

you can only look irrational in retrospect. if you're the first person to short sell the panic, you look like a genius. if there's a rally instead, you look like a dickhead.

and keep in mind (EVERYONE needs to keep in mind) the rally this afternoon was caused first and foremost by signals that the Fed's grip on the money supply next year will be looser than previously expected. not market fundamentals or economic strength, it was just optimism and assumption of more inflated asset prices, and cheaper leverage, to give a softer landing to a decelerating economy. inflation should be a lot of fun, buckle up and wear a fucking helmet kiddos.

>why did you buy IRM?
not for a good reason, pardon the long answer. i sold some old mutual funds and consolidated all of my investments under Vanguard, leaving me with about $75K cash. i decided, rather than just index it, i would have fun and build a custom portfolio, focused on dividends and diversified by payment date. i want to get a dividend every day, so that no matter what, i'm getting paid every day just for investing. since i had no individual stocks i started from scratch.

i polled my friends and told them i'd buy 100 shares or approximately $5K worth of whatever they told me to, without contesting it. friend #1 works for iron mountain as an art handler. so he picked IRM, and I bought the shares.

what's their future? if i knew i would sell, or double down. :)

wish i had a more useful answer but maybe the most useful answer is the truth. i can't lie to you. i believe in the random walk.
