Guys,

BTC will do well in a recession. Why do you ask? B/c banks will *most likely* be forced to confiscate funds up to the insurance amount in that given country...I hope you are all aware that the insurance on the account is not step up of a banking system collapse btw.

This is what happened in '13 in Cyprus, anyone with more than 100k got there funds confiscated up to 100k, that was the reason for the spike. The rich want to keep there wealth...Sure the price of crypto will fluctuate but its better to have something as apposed to nothing. In '13 there was a real fear that Cyprus was a testing ground & it would carry over to ROW. The reality is the banks are in a worse place than in '13, come the next rescission I don't see how the banks won't HAVE to do this.

FYI that 'money' in 'your' bank account is not yours...its the banks

I quickly looked up this, let me know if you want further clarification

This and central banks will flood the economy with new liquidity trying to stop the falling price of stocks and to stimulate aggregate demand, which will only cause inflation.

This is basic Krugman's DD AA model, when you go for an expansionary monetary policy supply overtakes demand, as so many people has money that is willing to lend but there is little demand for it they start competing with each other driving down real interest rates, once the interest rates in dollars are too low in comparison with what other currencies or assets offer, agents start moving to those assets causing a depreciation of the currency they're running from.

Sadly 99% of people here are brainlets and don't even understand basic shit like this.

Yes they where boomers but they came from JP ect...i was surprised they were unaware about the reality of the bank closures.

>the whole cyprus debacle in ELI5 terms
When you open a bank account you become an authorised representative for the bank.
The funds that go into the account are deposed from you & go to the bank. You effectively work for the bank...Your job, to extend bank credit.
The more funds the bank has the more they can loan out. You are assuming that risk & that is why the bank provides interest on your funds (I don't use interest baring accounts for this reason, the bank is not supposed to loan 'my' money out without compensation (interest)).
They are taking a risk & you need a reward. If the bank fails (i.e the loan repayments are not sufficient to let depositors withdraw funds) they have a few options 1. bail out from Gov. 2. Bail out from private investors 3. the Authorised reps for the bank (ppl with accounts). I can't think a 4th but history might show us

Cyprus picked option 3. the majority of the funds in the banks where foreign holders i.e they don't vote, Cyprus was considered (& still is by some) as a tax haven...

Let me know...sorry if i did not answer correctly and you knew that....

Equities go up, and commodities go down

hey look BTC is a commodity hmm wonder whats gonna happen I guess every single time any kind of economy crashed BTC went down with it... right?

WRONG.

Literally every single legacy system financial crisis that has happened since the creation of bitcoin, has unequivocally pumped it

crypto has crashed because retail normies and boomers capitulated, not because the stock market is going down

They quite literally have nothing to do with each other and if you actually had any data youd see that the relationship between the stock market and BTC price and economics literally have such a small correlation that its essentially zero

Taking from your 401k would just end up fucking you with fees.
Make sure you're in blue chips and materials, or switch to materials early in the recovery.
Watch overseas companies big in the third world: Caterpillar and the like. Strong blue chips that have diversified their offerings: Comcast, IBM, Amazon, google, and then just ride it. Those companies aren't going anywhere and the government has been asleep for decades so monopolies won't be broken any time soon.
tl:dr: blue chips into materials in your indexes and wait it out.
