The shitcoins that pumped 10x on Kucoin that I made my fortune from (and that JUSTed many unlucky people) weren't mineable.

I've been looking for a cheap GPU, but they haven't fallen much. A 1070 Ti I was looking at last year on Amazon is still the same price. Newegg had some good deals recently, but $100 less hardly compares to the 50%+ markdowns after the 2013/2014 bubble burst.

Last year video cards were sold out everywhere, especially hi-end cards, the fuck are u talkin about.
And if a store had some supply left, they priced them at 2-3x MSRP, even the fucking 1030s.

That reminds me... the shitcoins that were popular in early 2014 were GPU mineable coins like Dogecoin, Potcoin, Vertcoin, and a shitload of Litecoin forks. The shitcoins that were popular during this wave were non-mineable tokens like LINK, COSS, too many to name.

In late Nov I remember looking at an EVGA 1070 Ti and seeing it was $480. I just checked and that model is actually over $500 now.

>I've been looking for a cheap GPU, but they haven't fallen much.
They have fallen a lot, even new ones are now around MSRP plus minus 100 USD depending on country and deals.
I guess many people didn't replace their pascals with RTX and then sell their pascals. I kinda wanted a used 1080ti as a stopover until the big triway gpu war of 2020, but I didn't bite.

Where i live, in norway, used vega 64s finally started dropping below the 550$ point a week ago and are now selling in the 370-420$ range. I expect them to drop further and buy me one when they are closer to 200$. Hopefully they start mass selling before ethereum price recovers.

Btw make sure to not by a used Gigabyte vega. Bad board design. If you are on a budget that prevents you from buying 2080ti, 2080 or 1080ti and the 100-200$ additional gsync monitor tax, you should buy AMD for higher price performance. Vega 64 is equal to 1080 below 4k now, and better at 4k, and it will for sure have more fine wine. Below vega 64, vega 56 and 580, 590, will have greater value than performance equivalents even more taking into accoung freesync vs gsync. After taking it into account, AMD is much better.

I say this as someone whose last GPU purchase was an NVIDIA gpu (1080 back right after it launched, but I ended up passing it onto GF when she wanted to play witcher 3 and I'm currently just playing competitive FPS games on ultra low settings that are CPU bound anyway, so I'm watercooling my old 290x).
I'm not a fanboy, just a pragmatist. For anything below 2080/1080ti tier of perfomance and cost, AMD is the best choice right now.

Looking very forward to late 2020. If Intel manages to pull off a good high end GPU, prices are going to go much lower, though maybe not as low as historically because RAM prices (HBM, GDDR6) will probably still be very high.

Keking at all this.

>mfw last year I decided it was time to upgrade my old PC and bought a cheap 1080 for a few hundred bucks
>literally about a month later the GPU price moon happened

God tier timing to be honest.
