Can I become a live in landlord?

Hey guys

I work on my day job managed to save up for downpayment. Was thinking of buying a house then finding roomates to pay off mortgage. But right now the prices of houses jumped 30% in 1 year in my area. Will my plan still work? are u only get 2 roomies because of zoning ordinances?

Buy a house that has multiple floors and preferably in a college town. Get the loan (can't think of the name of it) that will be lower APR because you're living in it. Get a buddy to rent the other rooms out to the people so that the people living there don't know you own it. It will make them hate you less.

find roommates from craigslist then lie and always say you have to talk to the landlord on behalf of everyone. this will get you out of fixing a lot of shit too you can say he never returned your call.

I had a roommate I always suspected of doing this. The property was an LLC and we all made our rent checks out to the Address, not a person. The fucking shower was broken for 3 months while this weird dude who had lived there the longest just kept saying he'd left multiple messages but would never give anyone else the # he kept saying it was better if he spoke to the landlord. That weird fucker.
