Vaping is pushed as an experiential, it’s why you get so many flavours for vaping, because its all about the ‘experience’. Anyone that actually believes vaping makes you look cool, or is marketed in in a manner that might imply such, is an utter pleb.

Congrats on being swayed by the PR and marketing firms from Big Tobacco protecting their multi-billion annual revenue streams. Do you honestly think they just took it laying down while countless addicted consumers were being swayed off their products by innovative tech? Of course not!

First they tried to keep people off vaping by selling shitty cigalikes in gas stations, purposely made terrible and unfulfilling so that Mr. Consumer would go back to his old brand immediately after a first-foray into vaping. After that failed, they stepped up their game by purchasing fledging e-cig corporations, kneecapping their products, and started spreading the "vaping is gay" FUD as far and wide as possible. It seems to have stuck as evidenced by this thread.

I used to smoke/dip, and quit immediately once I discovered vaping in 2011. Back then vaping was still relatively new and most people, even nonsmokers, were interested in it. I noticed the "ecigs are gay" mantra popping up right around the time that the tobacco industry first started taking notice and coming out with products.

Today I am no longer a nicotine user. After a number of years I decided to quit, tapered down my nicotine levels to 0.5% over a few days, and then threw my kit in the trash. While vaping is definitely immensely more healthy than tobacco, I still felt that the healthiest option was to just breathe air, and I was tired of having an extra expense and thing to worry about. Feels nice not to have to worry about my cartridge burning or e-cig leaking in my pocket.

I am disturbed by the uptick in teen vaping as caused by JUUL, but phenomenon in itself just goes to show the stigma that was successfully placed on "vaping". Once it got rebranded as "JUULing", it was interesting once again. I would bet that most of the push to further regulate JUUL and E-cigs is probably being pushed by Tobacco Industry funded lobbyists.
