Bought a Camry wholesale from the Stealership, paid off my college loans and my parents' housing mortgage back in Dec.

I made $150k last year and set to make about the same this year in a low cost of living area. I don't feel like a baller at all since I have to slave away 40 hours of my life each week like anybody else. I'd probably feel the same even if I made $500k a year.

This. No amount of money changes the fact that you are wage slaving your entire life away. $200k is comfy but to keep my lifestyle - pay for my house, kids, etc, I don’t feel rich and I know I have to keep working doing shit I don’t care about at all probably for another 20 years or more. If I made 500k my goal would be to put away 2.5MM ASAP and then work until I literally felt like I would an hero, hopefully after kids are in college, then retire and pare down my lifestyle. I’d be happier not working. Right now my only escape is buying myself shit which is a temporary and soulless reprieve.

I've thought about that, but penny pinching is a shitty way to live. Even though I'm relatively frugal I still like to take vacations, live without roommates/parents, and drive a nicer car. Keep in mind I only take home around $85-90k after taxes and 401k. A big chunk of my pay still goes to 401k, crypto, stocks, etc.

I know a guy who makes at least 500k... he gives no fucks. Owns a lambo, has owned a mini yacht in the past, multiple vacation properties. Buys random toys that cost 10-20 grand, just cuz.

I’m not sure what his net worth is though. Could be lower than one would expect because he seems to live it up. He’s almost 70 and still works
