>I'm new to the stock market, what stocks should I buy?
Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks, and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.

Yeah. The worst part is if you aren't someone with no empathy you will get fucked over by it. Because they have barely any hope of improving and are impossible to deal with.

You are basically dealing with someone whose personality didn't develop because their uncle touched them or Mommy beat them each night while blaming them for it.

It's a fucked up personality flaw. Not even like mental illness either because it's not like some overtaken temporary thing. It's a malformed brain that can't be cured because it is who they are.

If the bull market comes back you'll make money in the long run, so long as you keep putting money in and are willing to hold for a very long time.

hold a bunch of long term dividend stocks that are stable (2/6rds of portfolio)

hold a few short term (6 months or so) stocks for short term swing trades (1/4th or more of portfolio)

use remaining money for cash to buy dips, and cash to spend on 3 day meme holds (to get rid of that sweet sweet urge to gamble )

its the perfect system

There's no capital gains tax on the dividend. The capital gains tax is on the shares that the dividend was reinvested into. If you choose to have them reinvested, yes, you'll have to cap gains tax whenever you sell.

For example: if your income tax rate is 22% and you get $1k in dividends, you'll have to pay $220 in taxes on that. If you choose to reinvest your dividends, that $1k will be used to purchase more shares of the company. Whenever you sell, you'll owe the cap. gains tax on the difference in price from when that $1k was invested.

most dividends are qualified, which means they're taxed at a certain percent depending on your income. Most people its 15% unless you make over 450K per year.

Even if its DRIP'd, you still pay capital gains on dividends (unless its in a tax-deferred account like an IRA).

you mean a bull that is un-domesticated?

(note for image: "Wild animals were domesticated via three common paths. Prey domestication (blue) happened as humans raised animals in captivity instead of hunting them. Directed domestication (red) took animals like horses from the wild and bred them for a purpose. And commensal domestication (green) occurred when humans saw a benefit from living alongside an animal. Yellow denotes post-domestication improvement.")

in america

many 20-30 somethings are in town for thanksgiving, so everyone goes to the bars the night before, and it ends up almost like a highschool reunion

bars have more business tonight than any other night of the year (newyears eve or st patricks day is a close second, depends on where specifically in the country)

>>11841868
lol, my mom grew up on a farm, she learned how to drive (tractors and trucks) before she learned to tie her shoes (before age 4)

but her parents told her the same thing that they told her siblings

"you can be anything you want to when you grow up and we will support you. unless you want to be a farmer. "

its apparently a job that keeps you poor, since you dont make money based on how good or bad of a job you do, but based on what that year's weather is like (and what the government decides to subsidize that season)

not going to lie, being a farmer and trading stocks sounds like a comfy life to me, but relying on farming income alone to put food on the table sounds like a crapshoot

It depends. If you try to do middle-scale farming, it's true. Equipment is expensive, you get into debt and you have huge expenses that you NEED to make up for. And the prices are crap because the market is harsh. Basically, if you do quantitative agriculture, you need to be VERY big from start, like too big to fail.
If you are running an organic, qualitative gig (like in my area, farmers sell their milk to a high-end local cheese maker and their meat to good butchers), then it's all fine, you basically have less expenses, your equipment doesn't need to be up to date, and you can sell for more as long as it's good.

Nobody in my family farms anymore, but we rent our lands to a farmer we know well, he sells his cow's meat at 10x the market price because he only have rare cow races and doesn't feed them corn or other shit. He also sells goat cheese on the side. He has very few expenses.

people who take the holiday seriously (as anything besides a drinking holiday) are annoying, but the people who pretend that they are "irish" on that day does trigger me (we are all american, if you were irish you would live in Eire, not america)

>>11842046
yea if you dont own many farms nowadays you cant make money, number of farmers in america since the 50's has shrank down to almost 1/4th the amount there used to be, but farming land has only gone up

only way my grandparents was able to "retire" was to sell the farm (minus the family house of course) to another local farmer who now owns 20+ farms around the county

it really is a terrible way to raise a family, unless you have a bunch of money and start by buying up a dozen or so small farms

ive heard starting a farm nowadays is impossible though, since large farming companies have a monopoly on land nowadays
