I can confirm anon's post. I work at a high profile cybersecurity firm and the exploit was recently published in NIST's national vulnerability database. It appears the AES elliptic curve signature used in all cryptocurrency has a backdoor weakness and will result in everything going to zero in coming days. Sell while you still can is my recommendation.

It will all lock down and everything comes crashing down. You better stock food, clothing, water, ammo, weapons, gold and silver if what you say is true because the world as we know it just ended.

Me too, I'm at the office right now, it has been all hands on deck for 36 hours straight from the moment out systems were alerted to the AES backdoor.

One guy literally started ripping his own hair out and he's been sitting in the corner of the room rocking back and forth for 10 hours. Another guy was found trying to drown himself in a urinal.

The ones that are more level headed are still here desperately trying to contain the spread of the exploit. We have detected hundreds of Chinese and Russian IPs probing through the vulnerabilities and we have contained most for now, but even the more level headed guys are starting to crack. It will only take one to breach the backdoor and it is game over. I've called my wife and said I love her, she started crying on the phone and I hung up. I have a loaded revolver in my desk drawer, God help me if our firewall doesn't hold.

This.

The way to hack it would be with quantum computers. That's not impossible, but there's a way to protect against that - never send twice from the same bitcoin address.

If this is about quantum computers though, many will be fucked, including Monero users, because the stealth addresses may be used to compromise the private keys.

Let's just hope OP's a troll.

>It appears the AES elliptic curve signature used in all cryptocurrency has a backdoor weakness

AES is literally a cipher not cryptography

Really the lack of knowledge on this board is pathetic.

Here's a run down for all you stupid newbies. Bitcoin and virtually every cryptocurrency to date uses an elliptic curve called secp256k1 for public/private keypairs. This has not be compromised and has nothing to do with AES which is a fucking block cipher.

AES is about as related to cryptocurrency as your belly button fluff is to the mars rover.

>> No.11821802

Elliptic curve crypto doesn't have shit to do with SHA hashing employed in crypto.

I wish OP was larping, but he's right. During the project Codename "bullrun" (how ironic), the NSA developed backdoors into public available encryption scheme. This was revealed by edward snowden 2013, however only a part of the classifed documents were ever leaked.

Now a new backdoor has been discovered on the 15th october which uses a weakness in the pseudo-random generator. This does not only affect Elliptic-curve cryptography but also SHA-based hashing. My sources are people who are into the cypher scene, which say that they discovered this in fallouts from the CIA leak, codename Valve.

This will have major implications, bitcoin has essentially been cracked and any encryption based on this RNG is considered crackable.
