With the existence of the cryptocurrency mining industry you can just buy work
there is more money against the adoption of bitcoin (entire financial industry and central bankers) therefore bitcoin will never be a fake social media campaign and rented hashrate away from a split.
Therefore the governance of btc is determined by who has the most money not by who does the most work.
