IRS just sold my debt to a private debit collector.
Can I go to a debtor's jail now?

You don't have a contact with the third party debt collector! If what your saying is true, then that debt collector just paid your debt at the IRS!

The IRS sent out an official letter saying they sold me, to who, how much I owe, and that I'm still responsible to pay it (in bold).

Debtors jail isn’t legal in burger land , so no

OP, call up the IRS and tell them you want to pay your debt...IF they did sell the debt they will tell you to contact the third party.....You do not owe the IRS! Just ask the debt collector how can you pay a debt with a debt? all fiat is debt money....Better to 'owe' some corporation that the IRS!

This. Congrats OP.

What will MOST LIKELY happen is the debt collector will try to collect...if they can't after (a year (guess)) they sell the debt to another debt collector...

I just don't want my credit to be ruined for a decade desu.

Well then you need to either look online about how to deal with debt collectors OR pay it. That debt collector paid pennies on the dollar for the debt....As your a Mutt can't you just leave the state and start getting credit in a new one?

Additionally, not trying to be mean but in really if you can't pay your debts you deserve a bad credit rating.....A credit rating just shows how much of a good goy you are....I haven't had credit for about 12 years....i don't want it! If you can't afford it cash you can't afford it...
