While I agree with your general sentiment, do you not realize that BTC has essentially become like a central bank? The idea being that it's serving the same function that gold did (several notable core proponents/developers have stated it's not intended as a currency to transact, but a store of value).
If your hope is on Lightning, the design flawed and unworkable (and it may stay that way). I recommend you to do some reading here.
BCH exists because BTC got Fed'd. That said, BCH might be near the death rattle, depending how this fork/hashwar situation ends up.
