OP, they would dump your pathetic ass without hesitation if it was in their best interest, you should do the same.

These guys r right OP. Never feel bad about leaving if you’re straight up with your boss and give him a chance to match or ideally beat the offer. If he won’t then you have a clean conscious leaving.

>Get calls at work from recruiters
>Anon, we have a great position for you! A local company is willing to pay you 10% more to work 25% more hours!
>Just sign this offer letter that says you'll pay back the recruiting fee of $20,000 if you leave in the first two years
>Good luck negotiating a raise when they can hang that over your head

Make sure it's not this, OP.

I'm coming up on a similar situation although not quite 50% raise. My boss is the owner and he's always treated me very well so I won't feel good about it. It takes him at least 2 months to hire somebody because he likes to be extremely thorough so I figure a nice compromise is giving him 4 weeks notice. At the end of the day though I have to provide for my family so choosing between an awesome employer or my wife and children is a no brainer.

Just sit down with your Boss and explain the situation and see what they can do for you. You never know if you never ask. They may say yes and you keep your good job and get a raise! Good employees get treated well - shit employees whine and complain and post on boards about hating the man.

I am not saying you guys were whining

>> No.11736345

take it from a boss, a good employee can easily push for a raise if there’s a chance of them leaving and they’re not easily replaceable. just make sure you’re not easily replaceable or you’ll be sol

Nah it’s what I would likely get if I left government contracting. I’m a software dev with 2 years experience making 100k in DC with maybe another 10k in benefits. I could be making 150k easy if I left contracting. The work is also very shitty.

Problem is I just agreed to move to a new project and it looks really bad to quit when you just started somewhere.
