with this miner (bitmain s15) the average cost to mine one bitcoin would be $580 using solar power (cheapest form of energy 0,015$/kWh). problem is that thing only mines 0.35 bitcoin/year. but let's say you have 34 of those than you would mine 1 every month. so you are making about 6k profit per month with current prices. but the investment for the 34 miners is 50k. and we all know i miner can mine profitable for max 2 years. how is mining still an interesting investment. best you can hope for is 300% in 2 years. but difficulty increases actually pretty fast and if the difficulty goes 4x times higher the s15 wont even mine profitable anymore. since we saw an average of 4x of mining difficulty every 4-5 months the last two years. how do you even make your money back at current difficulty and price. is actually anyone currently mining with huge losses or is bitmain just selling their miners for way too much money if they cost only $400 you can actually make a somewhat decent profit.

>what are industries of scale
try buying 250 miners and ask them what the piece price is then

anyone remember that sperg on reddit who said he was growing weed and mining bitcoin in the desert on solar
and he would argue with everyone once every 2-3 months

you must go back

Nah. Difficulty won't increase that fast.
Bitmain can't pump out a million of those miners. It's 7 nm, it's expensive and has a low yield. The competitors (innosilicon, etc..) also can't pump out a lot of new miners.
And look at how old the s9 is. It's ancient and still profitable at 5 cents/kwh.
There's also the halvening which will purge miners with old tech or high electricity costs. Really doubt the difficulty will change a lot.

but even since you can only mine profitable for half a year with a price reduction of 50% you are barely breaking even. if they actually sell for 400$ per piece if you buy a lot that would mean you have an 2x return on your investment in 5 months. that would be sweet.

pic related. mining at a short term "loss", for a long term immense profit once bitcoin is freed from blockstream jews
