>I'm new to the stock market, what stocks should I buy?
Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks, and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.

Qualcomm partnered with Appleon ARM, sold them designs under licencing. Now Apple copied and slightly modified those designs, refuse to pay for those licences and basically fucked off and dealt directly with TSMC instead of using QC as a middleman.
If Apple ever decides to start selling their A12 to other smartphones companies, Qualcomm is beyond fucked because IP is their only asset.

Highly doubt it, IP lawsuits are notoriously crooked and in that case it's two US companies, with one being the highest market cap in the world. Plus it's not like Qualcomm has much of an argument, the whole licensing business was extremely shady in the first place. Qualcomm was getting between 20 and 40$ for every iPhone sold despite doing absolutely fuck all.

It's not comparable. Facebook is sinking because of security and trust issues. Zuckerberg had to justify himself personally in front of the US senate and EU commission for crying out loud.

Activision's dip on the other hand is just momentary anger from the Diablo customer base, which isn't valuable to investors because that game has no recurring revenue stream ever since the RMAH was removed years ago. The new mobile game will print money, as all mobile games do and that's all anyone here should be concerned about.

Shorts have hit it heavy. LCI lost a contract back in august but they have already been replacing that revenue and they have already been cutting cost and restructuring..

Shorts hit it hard but haven't covered.. earnings were better than expected.. they actually beat.. they've been paying debt off early and as of now have debt covered till late 2019.

The shorts are fucked.. anyone that knows what a short squeeze is will buy and hold.

The leveraged indexes have many downsides, but long term returns aren't really one of them.

Leveraged ETFs are no good to hold through losses though because they’re rebalanced daily. This means that in periods of extended losses to the index, the fund has a smaller asset base for every consecutive day of losses and therefore less exposure to recovery gains of the index.

Since the IPO run up it's been relentlessly shorted into the core of the earth; last figure I saw was something like 76% short interest. They had their first ER two days ago and it was generally well received. They have a global team (US, Germany, Japan) supporting a fast expanding sales and revenue effort in China. Newly opened San Jose office is sure to attract silicon valley fags, not only adding talent but driving brand recognition. Also worth checking out their battery swapping concept along with NIO Houses for rich Chinese businessmen all across the country. They are definitely learning from Tesla's missteps, but face similar cash-burn challenges for sure.

In a market crash in one day I could see something like SOXL getting liquidated because it's average beta is much higher than the overall market
Index 3x can't get liquidated because they reset at the end of everyday, which means it would have to crash 33.34% to get liquidated
As previously stated this is impossible because trading halts after a certain drop. I think it's 15%?
You will suffer massive losses though
TL;DR leverage index can't get liquidated, non index can and do (see the volatility crisis earlier this year on volatility ETNs)

You have to keep in mind that it's not a 50-50 situation, that is "it either goes up or down", that would only be the case if you completely forget about your account and don't look at it in like a year, in reality you will check and panic if you're losing money and sell too son, or maybe not take profit when you should and then lose money, or any other situation, your emotions play a role in this and that's a disadvantage, it's like playing poker, you have a better chance if you don't look at your cards if you can't handle your emotions.
