midweek wagie edition

>I'm new to the stock market, what stocks should I buy?
Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks, and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.

You can buy fractions of shares normally with M1 Finance. It also does a DRIP automatically IIRC.

It's not meant for day trading though, and there is a delay between purchasing and when it actually enters or leaves your portfolio.

Yea. I'd reccomend something with no transactions fees. I use etrade and theres tons of mutual funds that offer it with no min $. So you could put $10 a week into if you wanted with no fees. Or for etfs VTI is no fee. So you could buy one share on a regular schedule.

What do people think about this theory. Technology takes forever to reach into small businesses and other places. It's usually like 10 years behind in some cases. If it becomes "easy" for software to adapt to needs and be easy to use it's bigger of a change than actual advancements.

So with ML and more and more stuff becoming easier to use we could see a big pop in tech over the next few years. Not because of advancement but because adapting old tech to new tech could be easier.

>Most of the problems with putting new tech in industry/businesses is old hardware, not software. ML can't really solve this at the moment.
ML can't solve much shit at all right now. Most companies have no fucking idea how to use it.
Small businesses (mom & pop shops) tend to have older hardware, but horizontal scalability is actually the standard solution for cutting edge tech companies now -- this involves buying more cheap commodity hardware instead of buying a single fancy, bulky mainframe.
Small businesses (start-ups) don't have this issue though, I think.

>>11667643
>What do people think about this theory. Technology takes forever to reach into small businesses and other places. It's usually like 10 years behind in some cases.
I think usually it's the case that the mom & pop shops just don't have the resources. Their websites are typically WordPress shit that was contracted out for a few hundred or few grand.
Square and Shopify has made it easier for them to at least have good payment systems.
>If it becomes "easy" for software to adapt to needs and be easy to use it's bigger of a change than actual advancements.
Sure. ML has hardly been usable outside of the largest of tech companies. You can find those SQ tablets or apps in just about every small business or taxi cab though.
Also, how easy is it to spin up a brand with Shopify to do dropshipping? As long as you aren't an old asshat, it takes about a week or two and some internet marketing knowledge.
I think that's actually a pretty solid observation.

>So with ML and more and more stuff becoming easier to use we could see a big pop in tech over the next few years. Not because of advancement but because adapting old tech to new tech could be easier.
There certainly is an effort to make ML easier with shit like IBM's Watson, but I really think that user friendly ML is still mostly a meme.
I think you're onto something with a big pop coming in tech through better usability than actual "advancements" though.

We've already moved from a production-based economy to a service-based economy with relatively little outrage (so far).

There will always be jobs so long as there are things machines can't do perfectly, or services we'd rather get from a human. How many times have you wanted to talk to a human being opposed to a pre-recorded message? I don't know about you, but I'd rather get investment advice or real estate planning from a human being.

I don't think they actually know what they are doing, they are just in for the fast profit. Retail shops are closing, central parts of cities and towns are hollowing out, more and more people are working remotely and isolation is on the rise. I think this will trigger the next crisis, which will not come any time soon as they actively trying to evade it, but once it does, it will be devastating.

There will be jobs, bullshit jobs to keep us from rebeling, marijuna and video games are also in this mix. But I think more and more people are waking up to the whole schemery and they will not tolerate it. I fear the process is unmanagable and there will be blood, lots of it.

I doubt it will dip as low as you want it with the upcoming releases. Pokemon will benefit its console sales alongside its mobile usage with the pokemon Go app + accessory. Don't forget on December, Nintendo will show off more titles (Bayonetta,Metroid Prime, Fire Emblem) and will raise interest

I bought the most recent dip, I'm feeling good.

Smash is currently the highest selling videogame on Amazon right now, and it's still a month away from coming out. That's just preorders.

There's a few casual pokemon titles coming out this year as well, but next year has a few landmarks. There's rumors of a new Switch model, and we've got Metroid/Pokemon/Fire Emblem/Bayonetta, etc. Plus - the 3DS models are still selling shitloads, and they're gonna keep putting games out for it.

Not to mention - their mobile games are doing decently. Dragalia Lost has been raking in the cash.

Just kill me. I made a good bet. Made 3.6k on the first day and then went to sell. Only problem was no one was buying. They wanted to buy at lower then what I paid. Then it just went down hill. It's all worthless now. Even if it goes up since no one is buying I can't do shit. 3 months ago it was healthy and now it's dead, paid 9k to learn not to bet before checking that.

If the spread is $5.00-$4.50, then it goes to $5.10-$4.60, you're still fucked.
When the spread is shit like $7.50-$5.00 and the volume for the day was 0, what the fuck did you expect?
