this is what everyone worries about getting caught lying about, but in actuality, at least in my state, prospective employers are only allowed to ask two things of a work reference:

>if you're eligible for rehire
Basically everything else, from position held to duties assigned, to accolades received, is fair game. And everyone else is lying, so you had better be, too.
