Both properties sold for ~$1.5m

>hey i wonder what'll happen to prices if banks are never able to fail so theirs no such thing as too much lending so we just give millions of people money they cant repay to buy houses? will pricees rise out of step with prudence?

Lowering your upkeep is heavily incentivized in our system. I pay less for my mortgage than I would for rent because I bought a shitbox and fixed it.

>> No.11543972

this in a very real sense. it's very possible your home ends up basically being the same as renting, but with some sweat equity and purchasing into a gentrifying area, it's fairly easy to see great returns. you can even get some gibs in the form of downpayment assistance programs that don't have asset limits, like the 10k hardest hit downpayment assistance program. Not all house purchases and mortgages are created equally.

nothing wrong with a mortgage if you plan on staying in the house and can make early repayments so you don't get started on interest.
