How much money do you need to disappear into the woods and never have contact with people again?

Whose woods or land will you stay on for free? (Not saying it is not possible but where is it legally allowed to stay in the woods remotely for free?

just find some place remote enough that nobody is going to bother kicking you out

Well, the assumption was subsistence, not freezing or starving to death under a tarp.

Somewhere between 0 to several million.

But that cannot possibly provide true "mental clarity and comfort" if at any time someone "could" come and tell you to get out - even if you love the place and do not want to leave. For free, I am not sure there is anywhere to never have contact with people again

assuming you can build your own lodgings, you could get away with 3ha of rural land. If you aren't looking to do industrial scale agriculture you can grab up land not suitable for cattle farmers etc for a steep discount. Bonus points for open air water spring on site, but you would at very least need to put in a bore for your water.

There was a guy who did it in Maine for 27 years, and then he got caught by a police drone.

well it would be difficult to never have contact with people again way out in the country as you would have to take care of everything such as cooking and growing your food. Would it suffice to have trustworthy minions that you never actually see deliver things or help out? You could definitely build some really well designed compound that does everything you need to live , couple million dollars. problem is if anything ever needed fixing or went wrong that you didn't know how to fix you'd need have to make contact again. If you are rich enough you could have an assistant do everything for you while you email them from bed i suppose.

this guy? he got caught because he was fucking robbing people
>>11539923
you're never going to reach mental clarity if you're always going to be concerned about what people "could" do
>>11539860
well it's either learn to be completely self sustaining or rely at least in part with trade with society.

He still got caught. It's impossible to hide with technology, which is would need money to stay within property laws

I mean nobody is going to bother kicking you out when it isn't worth their time, especially if you're deep enough in the wilderness. what are they going to do? send a squad of police to trek a week into the woods to catch a guy nobody else knows exist so they can spend 60k a year keeping him in jail? that guy was actively antagonizing the surrounding populous.
