why does everyone have to go to work at the same time? imagine if the roads were used slightly more efficiently so that 7-9am//5-7pm rush hour traffic wasn't a thing

Drive around at 8:30 am and again at 12:30 pm and tell me there isn't a difference.
8:30 am every cunt is out driving as fast as they possibly can to get to noseberg's office, cutting everyone off, being dicks
12:30 pm not a soul on the road

There is a difference, but not everyone goes to work at the same time like OP said. The post I made was pedantic, you see.

>> No.11539553

the problem is that everyone owning and driving a car is tremendously inefficient and doesn't scale well because expanding roads is far too expensive and time consuming and once you've done that all you've done is induced demand and you're in the same position. It's a simple geometry problem. The real solution is creating multi-modal transit focusing on transportation systems that scale, like trains where you can easily add more cars and run more trains, or bikes where congestion is nearly impossible. That pulls demand away from the roads and decreases traffic congestion.

Except cheap, dense transportation like that forces you to have to live in...."bad school districts".

Using them to connect suburbs with "urban cores" results in...crime.

not really, minorities get priced out areas with transit stops and are getting funneled into collapsing suburbs with few transit options. We're seeing the beginning of reverse white flight where whites are returning to the inner city and rebuilding formerly white neighborhoods and increasing their quality of life by drastically reducing their commutes.
