Sorry for your loss edition

>I'm new to the stock market, what stocks should I buy?
Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks, and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.

Ok, but the point is Tesla isn't as at risk of a recession killing them as shorts think. It's counter-intuitive sort of like how netflix does good in recessions. Tesla is in growing segments with lowering costs through tech advancements. The switch to EV is large enough of a movement to counteract any negative pull from recession in the greater market. With other autos comparitively getting assfucked Tesla actually becomes a good vessel for capital.

oh fuck yeah dude. If Tesla lives a few years it's over for huge segments of American economy.

The big simulation you should run is understanding Tesla entirely based on dealerships. Cut out all other businesses in Tesla and just see what they do only looking at their dealership model.

- On Demand
- 2 weeks supply vs 3-6 months stockpiled

They gain a 3-6% price advantage over all others just doing their direct sales.

> We bear now.

The Federal Reserve is draining liquidity from the financial system [by not buying new bonds to replace maturing paper]. It will remove another $600 billion from the market in the next year. The Treasury will issue $1.3 trillion of Treasury paper to finance the budget deficit. All of this means a lot of liquidity is being withdrawn from the market, which is bearish for financial assets. I expect U.S. stocks to slide into the middle of next year, falling maybe 25% to 30% from the top, taking nearly all other markets down with them.

When the declines are big enough, the central planners will come in. Central banks will ease monetary policy, buying assets if necessary. You won’t earn a lot owning equities over the next 10 years, especially if you’re a passive investor in index funds. It will be a much better time for traders and active investors who pick stocks and sectors and do exactly what hasn’t worked for the past 10 years.

I'm a fucking retard that would like to buy some Portuguese bonds, can you guys please help me figure this shit out.

Take this for example: https://www.big.pt/OndeInvestir/Obrigacoes/Info/PTOTEAOE0021

Why do bond prices go up and down? I thought bonds worked almost like loans, I'd buy 20k in bonds (loan 20k) and get a yearly return of 4,95% in this case and when the expiration date was over I'd just get the whole amount. Is it possible for me to get a lower return amount back at the expiration date if the price of the bond is lower than what I bought it for?

Also, again, taking this bond as an example, assuming I bought today, would I still get the full coupon rate on the date of the next coupon?

Like I said, I'm a fucking retard when it comes to this so I apologize for the stupid questions.

That's basically the underlying "gist" behind bonds. If the stock goes up 10x, the reduction in chance of bankruptcy is the only reason bond moves. So high growth doesn't matter that much to bonds.

not unless the bond issuer defaults. if you buy a bond that you are planning on holding till expiration, you know exactly what you're getting (assuming no default). that's why bonds are known as fixed income assets

when people say "bond prices are going down" they mean that the bond you just bought at 4.95% is less cool than the new bond that came out today at 5.05%. if you sold a bond right after bond rates unexpectedly went up, you might end up selling at a lower price than you paid for it. this is why bond ETFs go down, because the managers are constantly buying and selling bonds rather than buying and holding till maturity
