And how much do you recommend I put in my account to start with

I use TD Ameritrade. It's like 8 bucks a trade. I'm happy.

I suggest people do what I did. Put only what you are comfortable losing into the market. Then trade like a wild man for 1 year. See what works and what doesn't. Then put your real investments into the market and trade smart.

I learned a lot that first year, now I just trade safely with my retirement money. I made 20% each year for the last 2 years.

Why would you pay more per trade? Is there simply a better interface or resources? Why not use a commission free service like robin hood or a cheaper commission broker. What are the major important differences?

And that is good advice about going wild for a year just to learn. I want to enter the market but I am very tentative and can’t seem to commit and push myself out of research mode

I'm a part-time lurker and trading seems like a very closed-off world to me. I don't even know how you begin to learn all this stuff

What are “safe” investments?

>> No.11458548

Oh and another thing, are you guys all "rich"? Does investing require serious money for serious returns? I probably have around £30k to my name but would only be comfortable investing a couple thousand in "risky" ventures. Is it worth it?
