I know very little about finance. Could someone explain what's going down with Bill Ackman and Valeant?

There's not much to explain.
Ackman's hedge fund owns a large stake in Valiant. When the stock gets clobbered (like it has for the last 6 months) his fund eats shit.
He lost $1 Billion just today.
