I live in Amsterdam, so I can have a max. of 5 plants here 'legally'. For my first batch (white widow) I just gave them water and just had them standing on my balcony. They were autoflowers, and I didn't do any training/didn't look at nutrition at all, so naturally the yield was pretty bad. They netted about 30gr each. Last year I got a tent, lamps and took care of nutrition. I also went ahead and did some LST / fimming. Those plants grew about 120 gram each, so that was some pretty easy money. The only problem is that it took a little more effort, and took a bit longer than having autoflowers and not giving a shit. Definitely worth it though.

downsides: electricty bill, smell (filter), can't invite people, paranoia (landlord, police, friends, strangers)
since you want to sell. this is how you get busted. The risk is minimal if you are a professional, but with selling alot more ppl are involved, which you cannot control.

Pretty sure you can't just pump out more and more wattage and expect proportionally higher yields. There's an upper limit and a point of diminishing returns. Everywhere I've looked, it has said that 4 ounces (~120 grams) is good.

Uh it's called weed because it is fairly easy to grow. If your looking for maximum yield then more work is involved. LED lighting makes much less heat but doesn't make great flowers compared to a HID. Using a tent setup isn't bad for a small grow, but if you're looking to mass produce for selling then go with some decent sized HIDs. Heat is the enemy with HID setups. Also the electricity you will use will be expensive.

It's all in the strain you grow, if you use some ditch weed seeds you will get crap. I always used feminized seeds of quality strains and then cloned for new starts. Have an incubation/starter area and a flower area. Constantly having plants at all stages.

If you use lamps and grow decently you can expect 0.6-0.8 grams for each watt of power of your lamps (or equivalent for leds), higher as your technique gets better and your room better equipped
The thing is, unless you do something retarded like growing a single untrained plant under a 1000W HPS, it's canopy width and exposition that counts. You might get a full bushy canopy using every square inch of light with four plants, or nine.

As for selling, too much stress involved in growing and selling illegally. I'd look at revenue elsewhere and treat it as a fun way to indulge in some guilty pleasure and cultivating (I'm sorry) a hobby.

I don't think /biz/ should discuss illegal business anyway.

Weed can grow out of a crack in the sidewalk if that matters.

It's not even "maximum", basic technique and setup are needed to produce any half decent quantity of smokable bud at all. Even autoflowers, the plant-and-forget strains, will give you airy, possibly seedy buds if you don't care for them.

Growing weed is like brewing beer, it's easy in principle. You can grow 'some weed' or brew 'some beer.' Doing it skillfully enough that you want to consume the end product, for cheaper than you can get it at the store? That's a challenge, and one that takes up a lot of time and square footage. To those who are dedicated to mastering the craft, good luck, but I'd rather just pick up a 12 pack here or a quarter ounce there and call it a day.

Genetics is key out of the gate. I'm not sure how much the scene has changed since the legalization process in the States but you can order feminized seeds from Amsterdam as a start. Definitely look into training, trimming etc to maximize light exposure. Getting huge colas isn't that hard as it's getting the best light, it's the sides and lower parts where you can really impact yield. Could always go for a scrog grow, but your using a much larger footprint.

growing average weed is very easy and you can reduce costs and maintenance so much it is not even funny

i started with expensive gear and big ass pots + lot of work. One bottle of fertilizer did not last me until harvest

now I grow in tiny containers in coco behind windows 4 harvests per year. One bottle of fertilizer lasts me more than 8 harvests easily

I still flush my plants a lot with clean water which is again reducing costs of fertilizers. I tried everything from not flushing to flushing up to 4 weeks

My friends father does. He technically is legally allowed to grow for medicinal purposes but he has way more plants then he’s allowed and he sells to all the local highschool and college kids. He’s doing well but it’s a ton of hassle from what I’ve seen. Electricity costs, water bills, replacing equipment and that’s not even to mention the stress from selling illegally. I’d stay away from it if i were you. Unless it’s legal in your state and you can sell directly to a dispensary.

Well you don't "wash" buds, you use plain water the last week of the flower cycle on the growing medium, I also like not watering at all the last day or so during the full dark finish to help in the harvest process. I found it generally makes it less messy. No need to be all smarmy, I am just offering some help to anons

the truth is only certain people can grow plants well (green thumb); but it's because certain people are assholes and plants don't thrive around those types of people. if you are a kind chill person, you will do well. also, your energy goes into the plants and does affect the high. make sure to be calm and loving to your plants, talk to them and they will provide you with more than you could ask for. if you do not understand what i'm talking about, you're the asshole who grows shit plants and probably struggles to do it well.

You are working with biological systems, it's not quite that easy. Sometimes plants will be mroe or less resistant to pathogen, sometimes they will mutate for no reason, sometimes relative small amounts of stress will ruin a plant.
There are instructions to deal with all of thsoe, but you need to be perceptive and quick witted and not let anything escalate.
