In the works. It is not a shortcoming of Bitcoin, rather it is the lack of infrastructure and the absurd taxation laws.
It will change in coming years, check out Square's patent. Other financial companies will offer similar solutions in the coming years.

as of today it can't be used and is fundamentally broken: scaling problem hasn't been fully solved yet, 5-7 txs per second, fees will get abnormally high if everybody's gonna use it again and clog the network, the network needs multiple confirmations for transactions (imagine waiting for 10 minutes at a cashdesk). that's why it is just considered a store of value now

It takes steps to reach that point, all the while the financial singularity that is Bitcoin needs to be scaled in a way that does not break physics so that Bitcoin can avoid deteriorating into fiction.

Layered scaling is the only way to do it safely.

because there are too many digits for human memory and communication

when you see a toaster on sale for $9.99 you know what that means. you can tell friends and family about the $10 toaster deal. the cashier can say "thatll be ten dollars."

with bitcoin the price is 0.001544btc and thats an easier price to remember. oh wait now its .001534 oh no, its changing again.

what if youre buying a washing machine for 500, well in bitcoin thats 0.0767

but then again people can just round off numbers i guess and change the prices to like .0015 for the toaster and .076 for the washer

but how do you say that out loud, if someone asks for a price do you say "point zero zero one five four four" or is it easier to say "10 bucks"

yeah it wasnt that part i was talking about. it was the number and reading it out loud to people and remembering prices and stuff. crucial to actually using a currency is that you dont sound like a math nerd when talking prices with so many decimals. if people have to say or remember "point zero zero zero three four nine" as the price of something... well they cant, its too many numbers. so we need an easier way to communicate here

>> No.11418931 [DELETED]

it helps trying to remember prices using internal dialogue as well if its something that could be easily said it can be easily remembered

In a world where a statement like that is uttered, most people will have an innate feeling of how much a satoshi is worth, like we all have a sense of how much a dollar is worth, not unlike how we get used to driving at certain speeds and can make accurate guesses as to how fast we are traveling.
