Hey /biz/,

Like many other 'Muricans, I only know English well. In addition, I can converse in bits of three other languages.

Does anybody know if speaking at least two languages gives any advantages in terms of of improving being hired and/or getting higher pay for Comp Sci/Computer Networking or Business Management?

Curious about domestic and internationally hiring too.

The only other language that helps in getting jobs is Mexican

Originally being from Texas, it was common to see "Se habla espanol" all over the place. I like how some Spanish seeps into an English conversation when talking with 40+ y/o Hispanic people.

South Texas had a large base of both English and Spanish speaker, so seems like it wasn't hard to find a bilingual speaker.

Nope you don’t speak English well

Eh, it gets me by.

Not as good as it used to be and underslept today, which annihilates my brain's ability to process language. Years of a NEET lifestyle also doesn't help either.

Only classes in high school and college I excelled in without trying were English ones. All honors through high school.

I speak German at an intermediate level and Latin at a beginner level. I've found both useful for better understanding English, as well as reading scientific texts.

Not American here , in our lands experience is King. All other bonuses like languages you mention only count if there's anything you can apply it to on this particular job.

That makes sense given English borrowed heavily from German. Dad is a doctor and Latin definitely served him well.

That makes sense. An add on rather than a main focal point. Which land do you hail from?

I had a Spanish teacher (de Espana) in high school whose favorite Spanish word was "amor".

Espanol es un bien lengua para amor y compriendo tacos.
