Why exactly can't you just declare most of your income as a "gift"?

1. gift services to employer
2. receive gift money in exchange
3. ?????
4. profit, literally.

If the "gift" was in exchange for services rendered, the IRS will treat it as income.
They can be pretty mean about it, too, from what I've heard. If you did absolutely anything in exchange for the gift, they'll say it was income.

It can't be a gift because they sent a W2 to the IRS for it

>pay all your employees gift money
>Pay them 1 hr on the book salary a week, so that if an investigator comes in and catches them working, claim it was during their 1 hr paid time
