You know those informative videos on YouTube that tell you exactly how to get an 850 credit score? The ones that say you need 21 (or whatever) credit cards, and you need to have them open for 9 years?

Well, I did everything they say in those videos (without knowing it at the time) except I only kept one or two credit cards at a time. I'll cancel a card if I'm not using it.

Have a high credit limit across all your cards (seriously, I only have two right now and have had maybe 3 max at any one time, ever) and keep a relatively low balance. Pay it off completely each money. Or pay it off completely twice a month to keep those active balances low.

Never miss a mortgage payment, student loan payment, utility payment, etc.

Let time pass.

If you're stuck around 800, you should ask for a credit limit increase on all of your cards, and start paying them off completely twice a month instead of once a month. This way when the month-check happens for your balances, you'll have a lower balance-to-limit ratio.

You'll be where I am in 2-3 months, no problem.

You mean 350?

I still have a house I want to build... Will for sure need a loan for that. No dice. =(

Coincidentally, I've never had a car loan. We buy all of our cars (not many) wish cash. I doubt that helps. Probably hurts.

No doubt having a home loan helps us...

Your score goes to 0 after a while of having no debt. If you have 20% to put down with no other debt you can get a loan easy. Just find an agent who will do the "old way"

>Ask for a credit card limit increase

They just give me them out of nowhere. I always pay off my balance in full so I don't care
