Why would XMR moon so violently though? XMR is the only cryptocurrency in use today...which is ironically why it won't moon hard. It's excellent for anonymous transactions, but people won't park money into xmr, they'll use btc for that.

Just dont get too comfortable. monero can't scale long term without a complete re-architecting. given that it only has one feature, privacy, all it takes is privacy to be added to ethereum (in progress) or bitcoin (presumably in a lightning-compatible way).

theres no lock-in in monero, its not an investment for anybody using it,

The way you talk appears to be a simple task. It's not (if possible). If BTC can't even change its block size, imagine completely rewrite its protocol to add complete privacy.

Monero Cash. Besides using the old CryptoNight algo, it has also max 10GB block size.

>> No.11244883

>>11244802
actually it is trivial. with layered scaling, like i explicitly mentioned, any layer can have it's own set of consensus rules. you could literally take monero and make a privacy coin worth 1:1 with bitcoin.

bitcoin's block size is not an issue today, because even with it's lower blocksize it still scales better than monero does. with layers, its all about settlement, and if lighting is well used enough, the block weight can keep getting increased to satisfy.

Only people delusional enough to think Monero or any crypto will go mainstream are concerned with scaling problems. Monero is a tool, it works perfecty for what is was designed to do

>bitcoin's block size is not an issue today
No. The transaction pool always being congested, the time it takes to make a simple transfer in Bullish times and the large fees aren't a concern. Ok.

Also, with BP implementation, it will scale very closely to the capacity of BTC. And don't forget it doesn't have a fixed block size.

This is the big thing. There doesn't appear to be any utility to holding monero vs just laundering through it and parking your money elsewhere. I think XMR mooning is contingent upon the ultra-wealthy being just tech-savvy enough to ditch offshore holding accounts in favor of it, but not tech-savvy enough to understand that they don't actually need to keep their money parked there to keep it anonymous. Which seems sort of unlikely.

It may not go to jupiter but I have a hard time believing that it'll underperform BTC in the next decade though. I don't even hold BTC anymore, I'm so confident that XMR represents an upgrade in returns without any additional financial risk.
