Bow season starts tomorrow edition

>I'm new to the stock market, what stocks should I buy?
Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks, and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.

Bowfishing is fun. I have a buddy who worked at a coal power plant in Fairfield and would bow fish the tilapia on lake Fairfield.

I've never hunted waterfowl before, I mainly hunt deer and wild hogs. My girlfriend's dad is a huge duck hunter and is taking me to his lease in Stuttgart Arkansas this year for my first duck hunting trip. Waterfowl hunting seems like a pretty deep rabbit hole to fall into once you start buying all the decoys, calls, waders, nicer shotguns, expensive ass non lead shotshells, etc. I don't really see the appeal but since all I have to do is bring my ass and my shotgun this trip I'll gladly give it a go.

I don't really understand some people's hangups about using a gun to hunt with. Some people say shit like "it's just not fair" or "it takes no skill". Predator-prey match ups in the wild are usually pretty far from "fair" from the prey animal's perspective. I'm more into the butchering and cooking aspect of the hunting experience than the actual hunting part, the method used to harvest the animal doesn't matter all that much to me.

If someone set up an international options markets, where instead of share it was just the value as if you sold right after, how would someone claim taxes on it? Would it just be income tax? Ask yourself if the time invest is worth it. Maybe just study up instead of trading and wait for when you get money to trade. I spend a few hours a day watching the market. I'm doing other things too but that's $60 a day in time invested. If you aren't making $10 an hour watching maybe learnings a better thing until you have the money. DING DING DING DING DING

Decent accumulation day for me. Slurped up a ton of HVT warrants at 0.34 as they are lagging the common shares but 10%+ for the moment. Warrants will pump if there is any hint of further green on the commons on Monday. Bought a little bit more RIV at close as the range is starting to tighten somewhat and I suspect the bottom of 5.95 may be set.

Overall portfolio closed essentially flat at +0.42%.

TA for RIV. Using trading view site instead of investing.com version as trading view has RIV's complete chart since RTO listing. I normally use investing's because they don't set a limit on the number of indicators you can apply to your chart at once.

Anyway. 30minute candles as this stock has only had seven trading days on the market so far. As i wrote in last thread, first support is a flimsy one at 6.35-6.40 or thereabouts. Second support, and the more important one for now, is 6.00. I think likely outcome is a double bottom to test 6.00 again before heading in to bullish reversal. It could also hold 6.35 and start an ascending staircase from there... maybe. There is still plenty of selling pressure which is why I think a double bottom is more likely to happen.

Or RIV could just drop a news release on the disposition of some of those cash mountains they're sitting on and blow the whole thing wide open.

I think the really big pumps are mostly over. There will be some action in the week or two leading up to October 17th, then sell off on the day before, the day of, or the day after, depending when whales start the ball rolling. If you still want to trade weed after the 17th, I suggest focusing on cannabis biopharma or US companies like Acreage Holdings.

Option trading per and post ER. If it's going up, trade it up, if it's peak it's going to go down a bit, so trade for that. If you see something going straight down, then goes up a bit, buy puts, that was someone betting alot that that was the bottom. It wasn't. I made my money straddling facebook and buying twitter calls for that quick up where I sold them. The HII puts pre ER and uwt. Those were all my major wins of 500 or more.

Identify why the trade was stupid, adjust strategy so you don't repeat the mistake. Keep doing this every time something doesn't work out the way you hoped it would. Also, remove 'hope' from your trading vocabulary. Plan for all eventualities, bet on the one that is most likely to occur, hedge and/or stop loss in case it goes the other way. I know some people think stop losses are a bad idea. Even if you think that, at least set one really low so you're half ass protected if some news story comes out that some slimy executive from the company is embroiled in some horrible scandal.

I bought last friday and set a stop loss.

Just wait for them to announce their 7nm chipsets.
Intel shot themselves in the foot for doubling down on 10nm production, and nvidia thought the ray tracing gimmick would be enough to trick everyone into overlooking how utterly shit the 2000 series is, so if they can BTFO the 2080 or at least put out something that rivals it for a fraction of the cost then AMD stock will shoot upwards

You guys think it will go lower than 30? I'm strongly considering buying more.

Okay so mistake there was setting stop loss at a point where a sell at that level would put you below 25k and trigger a margin call. I'm not trying to bag on you for making a mistake, hell knows i've made some doozies, but it's part of the process to figure out if things could have been prevented with a bit more planning ahead of time.

Any time after a significant crash is always great. The last was 2008 and that was before my time as far as trading goes. Dot com bubble before that. Etc. The markets rarely stick to a stable equilibrium for long. In fact, if a trend has been consistent for any length of time, investors and traders alike start to get nervous about when the shit will hit the fan again.

Definitely a great time for trading right now though. Last year had battery metals bubble up, the dude weed has been going for about three years or so (earlier than that if you liked trading US penny shit stocks), tech is super volatile, Trump rustles jimmies which has made wonderful volatility to trade.

Why have a large size of your portfolio go to individual stocks if you are a long term investor?

Less than 10% of my total is in individual stocks. The rest is in a US total stock index fund.

The only reason I even do any individual stocks is just to personalize it some and give me some light form of entertainment from the day to day of watching how my picks are doing.

I can't imagine putting much of anything into high volatility shit. Like <2% of the portfolio.

If you're ok with 3%, you should look into buying US treasury bonds. They are the safest investment in the world, and it is likely that the yields are going to climb over the next decade. I wouldn't be surprised if the one year notes have over 3% yield sometime over the next year or so. I might recommend buying European bonds, but I'm legitimately worried that several Euro countries are at a real risk of going bankrupt (Italy, Spain, maybe France) and the chances that those bonds would be repaid are not super high. Germany is a safer bet, but their yields are artificially low due to central bank foolishness. Their short term bonds even have a negative yield.
