Look at your chart. The exact same thing happened in July. We broke out of the downtrend, went sideways for a while, and then crashed for two week straight.

This could honestly last for another year or more.

Are you by any chance try to say that the amount of BTC you hold is an indication or your trading skills?
There are people that made twice that just holding shitcoins and lost it all leveraging their trades, as there are people that x100 their less than 1 BTC accounts live on Twitch in a few weeks on Bitmex.

i don't fucking daytrade, idiot. i work on monthly timescales, not hourly. and i damn sure wouldn't risk my fortune to some bot like you and all the rest of the gamblers on this site do. you're not going to get my btc with any kind of dump. i've slowly accumulated from 20 to 171.34 over the last 3 years and i damn sure didn't do it playing games on bitmex.

my personal take is that the 6k bottom is not as weak as some bears might have you believe, because all the big boys are making plenty of money with highly leveraged shorts and don't need to crash the market or "kill the golden goose" to take profits.

with that said, if we don't establish a solid bull trend by eoy 2018/q1 2019, we are in for some much more serious headwinds because the mt gox repayments will tank the market if we're still playing games around 6k or lower. so if we clear 6k and are above the 20 period ma on the weekly chart by end of year 2018 we are very happy and the mt gox supply will probably be absorbed by the market.

my personal play right now if i had a whole stack of fiat would be to put 20-25% right now below 7k, put the other 25% in on another drop to 6k (always buy the 6k until proven otherwise) and then save the other half for a real rainy day to average down.

at the first sign of a big "true capitulation" bounce anywhere below 6k (like huge volume within several days and a big rebound back up, then scale the rest of the stack in

then as always, sell a bit on the big pumps, buy it back in on the big dumps, and you'll be real happy come 2020.

The end result of that will be to keep Bitcoin pretty stready sideways for a long time though right?

>>11234824
This looks like pretty solid advice too. But damn to see BTC hit 20k by the end of 2018 would be astonishing to a point of massive gains. People will flip the fuck out. That will make the bull run of 2017 look like a blip due to the fomo at that point.

>> No.11234947

>>11234924

yeah, that's not what i mean by bull trend, i just mean steady uptrend with higher lows and mostly higher highs. enough of a trend to where the mt gox shit won't establish a new lower floor. i definitely do not expect to be at 20k by the end of the year, but this is a good thing guys. we're looking for a "stealth take off" not a rocket ship for a major direction change from red to green.

>> No.11235019

>>11234947
So basically, we are pretty safe right now to get in but if Bitcoin stays here too long then we are going to be getting massively goxed to zero.

Makes a lot of sense.

>> No.11235148

>>11235019

yeah that's a fair assessment. but my ultra long term take is that bitcoin will trend upward, regardless of headwinds. everyone here forgets that bitcoin was born out of the last recession when banks were printing funny money out of thin air to prop up "too big to fail" financial institutions, it grew up in the era of snowden and wikileaks when we were just learning about how nefarious our governments can be, it has intrinsic, fundamental value because no one can monkey with the supply or unperson you by deleting or transferring your balance, government or corporation, and no "payment processor" can deny you the right to transfer it or receive it for an arbitrary political or social reason

it's not just a chart, and as long as more and more in the world continue to see that despite the price volatility at times it's upwardly trending sound money in the truest sense, bitcoin will go up.

so just remember that in the back of your mind when TAfags are telling you it's all just a chart.

these lulls in between bubbles cleanse crypto of people who are just in it for a buck and who don't see that, and give it the philosophical foundation to rise again.

we don't hear as much about uncertainty in the world as we did in 2009-2014, but the dog days are never over and will be back again, and when they come bitcoin will be there.

>> No.11235151

>>11234824
that's neat, thanks for sharing

thing is, your strategy is good for guys with big bankroll. majority here is under 5-10k $ and because of this people have to take bigger risks for short moves in order to take more than 1-2 positions, and because of small bankroll it's much easier to manage it rather than spending hours analyzing entries/exits for 20+ projects and leaving things to work out for months

can you give any advice for guys who now have less than 1btc (0.7 here) about taking profits in long term? I've been focusing on long term (as much as this term is possible in this field) and made these 0.7 from 400$ in late December, now I'm uncertain what do because I've seen only bear market and sort of scared if I will fail to trade bull market (I guess you've heard of guys who sold 5000 ETH at 10$ who thought they are geniuses at that moment)
