its been casually mentioned as a project relating to oracles, the thing is what chainlink is doing isn't novel, they're building a decentralized network but the oracle data still comes from a centralized website, so they're not really doing decentralized oracles, which is what most people interested in oracles want. those that want trusted non-decentralized oracles also have no need for the decentralized network they're building.

its a weird project when you dig a little into what they're trying to do.

If you look into it. You will realize that decentralized oracles are the only trustless way of imputing data into smartcontracts.

Also be aware that right in the near future smartcontract will be legally binding only if the input data comes from decentralized oracles.

Chainlink a game changer for all of crypto. Without LINK, crypto is only good for daytrading and sending it from wallet to wallet. The promise of the smartcontract economy will never come.

If you look at what SmartContract + chainlink did for SWIFT, You'll see a utilization of their oracle network to get interest rates from 5 different banks, aggregate the answers to get the average and bring it into a Smart Contract. This is what decentralization is. Information from different sources. that was a test run. But you see,no, data is not from one centralized website.

In this example, Chainlink brought a costly process of averaging interest rates from different banks in a trustless way to the blockchain world. Banks pay millions of dollars for this data to execute bond coupon payments. Chainlink did this in their proof of concept.

SWIFT and others want to bring the Chainlink PoC further and develop their oracles. This would bridge 90% of bank accounts from over 11.000 banks to Smart Contract platforms. Chainlink will be the most decentralized infrastructure product combining all blockchains with banking
