okay /biz/ how many of you actually know how a blockchain works? they say that if you cant explain something to a 5 year old, then you dont understand it.

So, in one sentence, tell me how a blockchain works.
Im 99% sure that literally no one knows what it is. I try to understand but it makes no sense...

Blockchain is like legos.
You start with one pieces, and slowly add more and more pieces on top of it , as long as you can find the one that fits.
They link up to form a huge tower of lego pieces that go on as long as people keep building it.
The one trick is, as soon as someone adds a piece onto the top of the legos, the one that fits, they take a picture of it and show everyone else, then everyone else copies that piece. So in this way, everyone is building the same tower.

That's blockchain. Aka legotower.
