If you're just hedging, 200-300 is nice suicide insurance. If you're a believer, 1000 will bring you into the 0xBTChad territory. Assuming $100 is inevitable but anything higher is murky, you're gonna want 10k to officially "make it." Personally I think it will go higher than $100 given a few years, but it will certainly be a long haul. It all depends on how enthused you are about the project and how much discretionary cash you have.

I've got 1.5k personally; my lifestyle is extremely modest and I don't need to be a millionaire to make it. If this doesn't work out I've still got BTC, ETH, and XMR.

Interacts with all smart contracts, just like ETH. Actually even easier, since ETH has to undergo a process called "wrapping" before it can be used in contracts. This also means 0xBTC can be traded on decentralized exchanges, unlike Bitcoin. No BS know-your-customer anal probes.

Also means it's immune to 51% attacks, since it piggybacks on Ethereum's consensus. Also benefits from all Ethereum coming scaling upgrades, like sharding.
