What should I be using to invest? Is Coin Base the best option for beginners? Where should I go to learn more about crypto and dumping money into it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Just stick with Coinbase, everything else is really fishy. If you get a coinbase coin, you know you're priced in on what everyone will be seeing when they try to make money on crypto.

If you just want to get some skin in the game, use Coinbase and leave your coins there, it's FDIC insured up to $250k.

If you want to trade, use Coinbase Pro/Kraken for better fees than Coinbase but a slightly trickier user interface.

If you're a degenerate, get a VPN, sign up for Bitmex and long XBTUSD 100x

Coinbase is good to start with. I only use other exchanges if I'm hunting for a specific coin (link)

So is coinbase. All crypto exchanges are shady as fuck and are prime profiters from crypto. Coinbase is just slightly less shady than shit like bitmex.
