My dad owns about a dozen houses that he rents out (he's a slum lord basically). I'm the only child and he asked me to look into options for minimizing death taxes for transferring his real estate to me when he eventually passes.

Does anyone happen to know anything about this? How can I keep uncle sam out of my pocket? An anon previously suggested a trust, but I didn't get a chance to ask him what kind of trust.

man if only your dad knew you were coming to an image board for an answer to the simple request he asked of you, you'd probably never get his legacy

There are lawyers who specialize in this literal exact thing, and you should probably ask one.

Get a lawyer idiot, but basically he should be either gifting you all the property while alive, or wrapping everything into a life insurance contract and mortgaging it all when he's close to dying.
