Anyone with a brain understnad the value is not as a currency.

The value in Bitcoin and Monero is that they allow you to move value around. Its a money wire system more than it is a currency or a replacement for cash.

The usecase is evading taxes, hiding illegal money, moving illegal money and in extreme cases- using it to pay for other illegal services.

remember it was once worth 0$, and all miners mined it at a loss, so yeah- if mt.gox didnt kill it after it went from 17$ to 1 cent in 10 minutes back in 2011, then bitcoin is here to stay.
